More African Music on Shabbat!

Shabbat shalom!   Yet another beautiful Sabbath is here and African music is back!  For the last couple of weeks, I have been missing my African music! I am currently watching the African Channel. The commercials are about Africa, the programming is about Africa, and currently, featured on Conversations With Felicia is the glorious South African Zulu vocal group, Ladysmith Black Mombazo. If you have never heard their music, you absolutely must.. The harmony, the melodies, the rich beautiful hypnotic voices of Zulu men.  It is absolutely intoxicating.

Ladysmith Black Mombazo

If you have not yet indulged yourself in a full day of African music, people, food, culture and thought
you must!
It makes an enormous difference in my state of mind when I can turn off all of the current perverse cultural garbage emanating from popular culture in the United States and cleanse my mind from the constant barrage of mess intended for brain-trashing.  Sadly, I once had a Black male guest in my home, who told me that I was TOO African.. .( Because I actually own several CDs of African music and play them in my home)... I asked him if he thought whites were "too European" for listening to European music.  Under a system of Racism (White Supremacy) where the culture, values and ways of whites have been forced on African people and all others, the victimized mind sees a problem with being "too much" of its original self.  The victimized mind sees a problem with existing in its natural state and finds more comfort in its unnatural state that comes from deforming to assimilate into the most destructive and perverse culture on earth.

I challenge each of you to turn off the Beyonce, Lil' Wayne, Justin Beiber, Snoop Dog and entertainment of that nature and spend an afternoon treating your mind and soul to rest and healing with African music. Let me know if you feel more at peace, more centered with yourself... more like an African.
